After putting our son, Ayden, to bed the other night Josh emerged from his room completely amazed at the faith of our child. Josh had read the story of David and Goliath to him and as they were reading Ayden asked why did David pick up 5 rocks to go fight Goliath, why did he not just take one? What a question! Why did David - such a "hero of the faith" - take back up ammo with him into the fight with Goliath? Could it be that David had doubts or was afraid? Of course he had doubts he was just a kid going up against a giant, but he still went. David was indeed a man after God's own heart, but he was also still human. We should all strive to have that absolute faith where we are so confident in God's provision and protection that we boldly step onto the battle field with only one small rock but it is also OK if we need to shove handfuls of rocks into our pockets - regardless of how many rocks we take with us the only thing God really cares about is that we step out onto the field ready to fight for His glory. There have been some days through all of this with Riley that I have confidently faced with only one rock and there have been other days when I cram as many rocks as I can into my pockets - but no matter how much ammo we take with us, we as a family will daily walk this out for His glory.
As always, thanks for continuing to lift us up in your prayers. If you want to pray specifically for something - this week I have been praying for her mouth strength . . that she would start swallowing. Her sucking and gag reflexes have been developing well (they are still lacking but making progress) and we suspect that she has been swallowing a little but this is definitely an area where she needs much improvement.

What an awesome way to put it. I never realized that David brought "back-up" stones. But it is so true...we ARE still human in these tough situations. God understands that. I'm so encouraged to read your blogs...KEEP FIGHTING! You and your precious family are in my prayers.
