Riley got to hang out with her big brother!

Ayden (our 4 year old son) has been so upset because he can't go visit his little sister. . . The NICU has a rule that siblings must be 5 years old and he won't be five until May so he hasn't been able to see her. But they final gave him permission to visit her today! Ayden has always been a super special and really sweet child but watching him interact with Riley was incredible. He immediately saw past all the tubes & monitors and reached out to grab his little sisters hand. He was so gentle with her - constantly stroking her hair, holding her hand, or adjusting her blanket and stuff animal - he didn't leave her side the entire time and he cried when we told him it was time to leave. He asked 10,000 questions about every wire, plug, and tube he could see in her room - wanting to know all about his baby Riley and what the doctors were doing to help her get better. It was such a blessing to finally have both of my babies in the same room! I even got to read them both a few stories! Hooray, a normal mommy thing to do! =)

Also, they have scheduled Riley's surgery for next Tuesday at 1pm. It will be a 2 hour surgery to put in her tracheostomy tube (for breathing) and her PEG tube (for feeding). They will also take a sample from her left hamstring for a muscle biopsy and a nerve from her left calf for a nerve biopsy. Please join us in praying for this procedure for little Riley - it is always scary when little ones are put under anesthesia especially when they are fairly critical like she is.

Thank you all for all your love and prayers. I updated the photo album a little bit with some new pictures and will put up the new ones of Ayden and Riley as soon as possible.

Much Love,
Becca

PS - In other news, my brother and sister-in-law just let us know they are expecting their second child in October! Congrats Matt and Lindsey!!!!!!!!! We are soooooooo excited for you guys!
